Festival of Talent @ Salsa Mania Bristol

Hey Everyone,
The South West & Wales seems to have a wealth of Salsa talent!!!
There are many great Salsa performance groups in the area...
So we thought we’d put on a fun competition to showcase all
that talent and to see who can be the best on the night :-)
There will be a trophy for the winners presented by your judge
for the evening Enrique Viña 2002 UK Salsa Dance Champion
Salsa Mania doesn’t have a performance group and so we
are your truly independent hosts!!! :-)

So... I’m sending this message out to let you know about an
exciting event we’re putting on 8th September 2010 but also with
an invite to those of you who are part of local performance groups,
to register your interest in taking part in the event...
The event is called A Festival of Talent and is designed to
showcase all the local performance talent in a fun competition
with a trophy to take away for the best entrant on the night!
This is a serious & competitive but hopefully fun and all inclusive event!
The Judges for the event will be Enrique Viña + A local Non Promoter
.
Entry Rules are as follows:
.
1. You must be based in the South West or Wales
2. You must have a name for your Performance & your Group
3. You must have three or more Performers
4. You must wear a Performance Costume
5. You must register your interest by 1st September 2010
6. You must bring your love of Salsa to the aid of the Party
.
*You may advertise your performance Group & Club both at
the entrance through flyers and through the Costume/s you
wear during the Performance!
If you are a non Performer, you’ll love this event I’m sure, so
please come and support all the local talent!!!
There will be plenty of freestyle dancing between the performances
and as we close at 2am at the earliest, there will be plenty of time
to strut your stuff, at one of the South West’s busiest Latin Club Nights

LESSON PLANS @SALSATRICTY;
We concentrate on giving you an understanding of the FOOT WORK with routines to help you practice what you learn in the lesson rather than trying to remember long moves...
There are four levels. To help gauge which level you should enter here is a guideline:
BEGINNERS
basic step
back step
forward turn to right
cuban turn
Routines will include all above
(some weeks can introduce cross body if no complete beginners there)
IMPROVERS
cross body/Dile que No; including cross body send outs /fourth form/ Guapea
ladies cross body double turns
first form/enchufla
back across/second form
Routines will include all above including from beginners level
INTERMEDIATE
outward or hook turn to right and left
3rd form or round the world
double/treble turns
introduce the basic dip
forward turn to left
Routines will include all above including from beginners and improvers level
ADVANCED
...building on all this!!! plus more so for example the dips and multiple turns will be more challenging and there will be a mixing of the ;forms'

Welcome to our new guests ...some from as far afield as Iceland and Glasgow..Word is spreading!!..we have now started using the new entrance to give us more room for lessons and dancing.....worked week this week.......it also makes sure anyone new who is in the seating area is now fully included into SALSATRICTY and the dancing as it is near the door......so no hiding in any corners!!!...we want you to dance xxxx

We are delighted to announce that official permissions are all finally through for our first Hot Salsa Alfresco event!
First Dance With ….... The new mayor of Enfield, Councillor Jayne Buckland at 2:00pm ( an old face at Trent Park!)
Oakwood Park has 6 tennis courts, a children's playground which has very recently been equipped with fantastic new equipment and there is also now a multi sports outdoor area suitable for football, basketball etc.
There are toilets with facilities for baby changing, a yachting pond for model boats, ducks and geese, and large areas of grassland, which are left as meadowland, throughout summer. Original field boundaries can still be seen from when the area was farmland. A 9 hole pitch & Putt course is also available. Anyone wishing to help organise a Hot Salsa Tennis or Golf challenge cup on the day please call me asap! The cafe at Oakwood Park is open pretty much 365 days of the year and serves a wide range of delicious fresh hot & cold food, freshly made sandwiches, drinks & ice creams etc. The cafe area is a sun trap but can also get very windy. The cafe also has some little tykes type playhouses and slides for the younger ones to play on while adults are sitting down drinking coffee etc. The large play area can be seen from the café.

Salsa Nights at RHS Garden Wisley

The first of this years Latin Dance nights at RHS Garden Wisley was a great success but with only 3 nights left you better hurry in order to secure your place. These fantastic classes run from 7pm every Friday night in August 2010 and are perfect for both dance enthusiasts and novices.
Each night offers two exciting Latin dances; salsa classes with the Mundo Latin UK team plus special guests teaching one of the following dances on selected nights: Friday 13 August - Cha Cha Cha with Andrew Cuerden and Hannah Haarala, (as seen on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing); Friday 20 August - Argentine Tango with Tanja Zech and Peter Vcasny and Friday 27 August - Rumba with Andrew Cuerden and Hannah Haarala.
Remember a dance partner is not essential as professional teachers will be on hand to teach the techniques of classic Latin dances.
During the evening there will be a spotlight performance by leading dance experts from across the globe complimented by live music from the Latin band ‘Palenke’ and the rare opportunity to take in the wonderful evening views from the terrace overlooking Wisley.

PHIL LINGARD JOINING SALSATRICITY THIS WEEK TEACHING ADVANCED

Passed my LPC...YES!!.... a great time to say a massive "thank you" guys for all your support.
Didn't have the opportunity last October to say fairwell to you....so its been so good to see you at Barnet on Saturday nights and out on the dance floor at other venues...
Sunday at Burgess park was fun and good to see you there...and at SOS after.....shame it was held in the same ballroom as I sat my Business and Company law exams...noooooooooooo!!!... so all I could think of was Income Tax...Board of Directors..Capital Gains Tax...Members...Share Certificates...Inheritance Tax..Chairmen...Stock Transfer Forms....bored yet? then you understand why I found the whole experience unsettling......but loved sitting out the last hour watching you all...and SO VERY SORRY I refused all dances in that hour...never do that!!...was shattered and shell shocked!! will be back to collect them though..
FIRMLY believe no one should refuse dances without a valid reason......in the meantime.....

Start
"At London Salsa we like to keep up with all things Salsa happening in London so we went along to Salsatricity on Saturday night in Barnet. Heather and her team teach Cuban style concentrating on footwork and understanding rather than routines. Being a trained school teacher she understands learning and has more men than women at the class (is that a first for a Salsa class?), and judging by the amount of good men dancers, she seems to be doing a great job. On this night she also ran a Bachata class. The club was buzzing. Around 120+ attended but there was still enough room for the dancers to stretch themselves. The music was first class, being provided by DJ Julian 'The Duke', and the age range was an even mix from 20s right up to 60s. It was a great night with a very friendly atmosphere and some great dancing. You should check it out, we'll be going again. LS"

Level 2 progresses to a more confident understanding of the styling, turn patterns, body movement and footwork, techniques of Bachata. Event open to those students who have successfully completed Raynor's Level 1 course.
ADVANCED BOOKINGS ONLY - These are not drop in courses, numbers are restricted to ensure individual attention and progression, an even gender balance is also strived for.

CLAVE LATINA FEST! Fresh Latin-American music and dance festival

CLAVE LATINA FEST
Fresh Latin-American music and dance festival, running in London from the 3rd of July to the 18th of July. A cultural event, celebrating the world heritage of Latin music and dance. There will be a variety of free music and dance workshops, cultural films, lectures and debates to enjoy. The festival aims to highlight and promote the rich cultural, artistic and historical aspects of these popular expressions, with a big emphasis on the contemporary music and dance genre known as SALSA! There will also be evening parties including International dance shows! Come and join us in this unique event.

PARTY with SALSA + BACHATA Classes in READING on SAT 19th June 2010

This Saturday we meet at RISC for a bit of chatting, drinking and dancing. There is a choice of four classes - salsa and bachata at various levels - and then we dance freely and party until late!
Times:
Salsa classes from 8pm-9pm with the following teachers:
i) BEGINNERS SALSA with Sharon
ii) IMPROVER/INTERMEDIATE SALSA with Ed
iii) INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED SALSA with Chunky, and
iv) IMPROVERS/INTERMEDIATE BACHATA with Tabs teaching an urban Dominican style of Bachata for Improvers/intermediates.
Dancing 9pm - 1am. Ed + Chunky will be DJing.
